Smith was retained by a North Kingstown couple who had purchased a warranty for their motor vehicle.  The company issuing that warranty was called The Eagle Warranty Company from Pennsylvania.  RI Criminal Defense Lawyer James E. Smith filed a breach of contract lawsuit on behalf of his clients after the company failed to pay for certain repairs.  After winning the case, RI Criminal Defense Lawyer James E. Smith placed all the requisite liens on corporate owned property AND on all property personally owned by the company’s principals.  The State of Pennsylvania Attorney General sued the principals and the company, forcing it into bankruptcy.  RI Criminal Defense Lawyer James E. Smith was able to secure DOUBLE DAMAGES for his client’s after the principals sold their personally owned real property in order to fund the bankruptcy.
